Garbage disposal leaks can occur from a number of places on a garbage disposer.

First shut off power to the garbage disposal by throwing the circuit breaker to.

Pressing the overload button underneath the disposal may fix the issue right away.
Try pressing the red reset button at the very bottom of your garbage disposal.
Common areas include the sink flange where the disposal connects to the bottom of the sink the hose that leads from the dishwasher to the disposal and hose that discharges waste from the disposal to the drain system.
If your garbage disposal is humming it is usually caused by one of two problems.
Garbage disposal wrench or 1 4 inch hex key.
A stuck flywheel or a seized motor bearing is likely to blame.
If the blades are still stuck rotate.

Something very small stuck in the slots that the food goes through can keep a disposal from moving pretty easily since they don t really.
Not much you can do to prevent motor seize up other than be careful what you feed to the disposal.
If power is getting to the garbage disposal and the red reset button did not reset it you may have a dead disposal.
The usual fix is to use a garbage disposal wrench which is really just an allen wrench so you can use any allen wrench that fits to spin the motor in both directions until it turns freely.
